Multidrop Serial Digital I/O Controller

Multidrop Serial Digital I/O Controller
SKU: KTM-108

Description:

The multidrop serial digital I/O controller is based on our KIT108 controller. It has so many applications where it can be used. Starting and stopping remote machinery, starting pumps, sensing external switches such as water levels, thermostats. The list is endless. The controller provides eight relay outputs each capable of switching 5 amps @240VAC and four opto-isolated digital inputs. All connections to the I/O are via screw connectors.

The multi drop serial I/O Controller allows up to 10 serial I/O controllers to be multi dropped off a RS232 line. Each Serial I/O controller is given an address which is stored in memory. Each controller is controlled by ASCII commands of the format @x Yzz where x is the address, Y is the command and zz is the parameter. It has all the old commands of the original serial I/O controller plus several new ones. The 4 digital counters can act as non resettable and resettable 24 bit counters. How do you multi drop on an RS232 line you might ask. With a simple addition of a diode on the controllers transmit line together with a single resistor tied to common you can multidrop serial devices on an RS232 line. This is because 99.9% of RS232 transceiver ICs switch at about 1.5V. RS485 can be used to give distances up to 1km but RS232/RS485 converters will have to be used.
