Level Monitor and Controller

We decided to make a low cost, simple to use indicator and ON-OFF controller with analog input and relay outputs.

The KTA-251 is a level meter and relay controller card. It can easily interfaced with sensors having a 0-5V / 0-20mA / 4-20mA outputs. Two relays can be programmed to activate when an input crosses a level (with optional hysteresis) or is within or outside a range.
The unit is equipped with a small LCD and buttons, allowing an easy-to-configure interface. By using the pushbuttons and screen you are able to select ranges and set relay ON-OFF levels. Configuration is stored to non-volatile memory. The meter can also be easily interface to the DS18S20 temperature sensors and Maxbotix MaxSonar-LV-EZ0 and EZ1 ultrasonic range finders.

The unit can be mounted on a panel using screws and supports. A DIN Rail mount can also be purchased

APPLICATIONS
1. A user may wish to monitor the pressure in a vessel and sound an alarm if the pressure drops too low or rises too high. The sensor is a 4-20mA, 0-100Bar pressure sensor.

2. A test oven needs to be maintained at 80degC. Using a DS1820 temperature sensor connected to the KTA-251 and a heater to the relay, the controller can be programmed to switch on the relay at 79degC and switch off at 81degC.

3. An interactive display must be switched on when a person comes within a meter of the display. Using a Maxbotix MaxSonar-LV-EZ0 ultrasonic sensor connected to the KTA-251 it can programmed to switch the relay ON (turns on display) when the sensor detects an object within 1 meter.
