An improved version of the 8-bit Pocket Sampler featured in Electronics Australia this compact 8-bit PC driven data logger monitors voltage changes over periods ranging from milliseconds to months. It uses the ADC0804 8-bit A/D converter IC.

It can be used as a simple low frequency digital 'scope' to examine audio and other signals up to about 5KHz. Switch selectable 2V or 20V ranges. No batteries are required as it is powered from the computer's parallel port. This new Mark II version is designed for compatibility with the new PC parallel port standards.

The complete sampler is built on a double sided PTH PCB. This fits neatly inside the extended D-shell case provided. A printed front panel is used to identify the Input socket and Voltage Range selector switch.

Software
A new easy to use windows program   called Logger (suitable for 98,NT, ME, 2000 and XP) is supplied with the logger. This program
   - converts and displays the reading to engineering units
   - graphs the reading
   - is able to log the time and date stamp and the reading to a CSV format file. You can then easily import the files into Excel for analysis
   - monitors and displays the minimum and maximum value of the input
