The Field Logger is a
versatile data acquisition unit capable of monitoring and supervision operation and
datalogging, where data is written to internal non-volatile memory. Connection to the
input channels are made via screw terminals. The Fieldlogger also features 2 alarm relay
channels which can be activated when any channel enters a programmed alarm condition.
The Fieldlogger is setup by the
Configurator software. The Fieldlogger has a RS485 interface which allows communication
upto 1Km. A connection from the PC's RS232 port must be made using a RS232 to RS485
converter.

RS485 and RS232 to RS485 converters
Configuration
The FieldLogger configurator
allows you to set up the communications and the setup of each channel including
- Logging session Title
- Channel Names and input type
- Scale Low and High Limits
- Engineering units
- Channel alarm setup and alarm relay
outputs

Acquisitions
The Acquisition tab allows you to setup the data logging parameters

This page contains the
parameters needed for recording data in the Field Logger internal memory. These parameters
are:
- Start Logging time
- Stop Logging time.
- Base Interval Between Loggings
- Interval Multipliers for the channels
(set individually for each channel)
The base interval can
be specified from 0.2s to many hours and is common to all channels. The interval
multiplier, however, can be configured individually for each channel, allowing distinct
logging rates among channels. For example, for a base interval of 10s, a multiplier 1 will
cause a new sample to be recorded every 10s; for a multiplier equal to 6, the channel will
be recorded once every minute. Using the multipliers, the user can manage the memory usage
according to the importance of each input variable.
RTU Operation
The FieldLogger transmits
channel data using the MODBUS RTU protocol. The Fieldlogger RTU can be used with any
common SCADA software package that supports MODBUS, or it can form a complete data
acquisition system using the Fieldchart software.
The main module collects data to the
PC, displays the data in both digital and graphic formats in batches or in real time and
provides trend and historical views. It can zoom in and out, superimpose or link graphs in
one screen, print graphs or lists and export to spreadsheets or word processors.
FieldChart will support up to 8
Fieldlogger units simultaneously when connected on line, thus plotting up to 64 analog
channels. HI and LO alarms can be set for each channel and their values will be displayed
on the screen whenever an alarm is active.
