MOSCAD COMMUNICATIONS MACRO
The Moscad Protocol Analyser Monitor (*.mon) file contains a lot of information on which RTU sites, FIUs and Gateways are transmitting and receiving data over your radio network and can help to ascertain the performance of your network. Unfortunately this information is in a text file format, is huge in size and it is hard to extract the information you need. This Excel Add-In transfers the log file information into a spreadsheet so that you can easily pinpoint which sites are using large percentages of bandwidth and which sites are retrying. You can instantly determine how many times each site has transmitted and received data over the log period. You can look at all the transmit and receive records for all the sites or just one. Easy to use it works with Excel 97 and 2000 and all operations are from the Excel menu bar. Instructions are given on how to install and use the macro in a readme.doc file. The trial version is for 30 days.

An example of how the macro can be used is shown below. The image shows multiple transmissions occurring from the gateway at address 10000 to RTU sites 311 and 310. The reason for the multiple transmissions was found to be a faulty radio on RTU 1001 which is a node in the network.

A macro is also included for producing a report from the Software Diagnostics log file which shows the RTU and the number of Txs and Rxs and retries that have occurred.

MOSCAD PRINTOUT MACRO
The Moscad Printout Macro is a Microsoft Word Macro used to format a Moscad RTU Print Document. The Toolbox software from Motorola produces a printout for an RTU program which is in a text file format that consumes a tree plantation everytime you want to print it out. This word macro reduces the number of pages in the document by removing all the page breaks, the constants and reduces the height of the rungs in the ladder logic . It also puts in appropriate headings and produces a word document which is concise, economical to print and is easy to read. The macro works with both Word 97 and Word 2000. It is easier to use with Word 2000 because it recognises the characters use to draw the ladder logic whereas with Word 97 an extra step is required. Instructions are given on how to use the macro in a readme.doc file.
