Servo Motor Drives
Why use servo motors?
Servo Motors will run with full torque to speeds over 3,000 RPM whereas stepper motors generally do not have any torque beyond 400 to 500 RPM.  Servo motors and their drives also operate as a closed loop. An encoder mounted on the motors sends information back to the drive indicating whether the motor made it's position or not. Power is then adjusted to keep the motor in the correct position at all times. Hence no lost steps due to stalling stepper motors. Finally servo motors and their drives also run cool. They don't need large heat sinks or fans even under full load.

SMC-240 DB810A Motor Controller
The DB810A is a digital DC servo driver developed with CPLD and high efficient MOSFET technologies. In position control, it’s easy for end users to change stepping drivers to the DB810A without changing control systems, because its input command is PUL/DIR signal, which is compatible with that of stepping drivers. In low power motion control applications, performances of DC servo systems using the DB810A are better than those of digital AC servo systems in velocity, precision, noise, stability, or at least as good as those of digital AC servo systems. However, the cost of the DB810A stays at the price line of stepping driver, namely far lower than those of AC servo drivers.

Features

  • 18-80VDC, 0-20A, 20-400W
  • PID feedback servo drive
  • Feedback resolution ×4 encoder line count
  • Lock range +/- 128 count following error
  • Opto-isolated pulse and direction inputs (differential)
  • Over-current and short-circuit protection
  • Small size 110 x 69 x 27mm

Applications
Suitable for a wide range of equipments and instruments such as mini type engraving machines, jet-ink machines, etc. It performs better in equipments desired for low noise, high velocity and high precision. Check our DC Servo Motors that work with the DB810A
