Stepper Motor Drivers

KTA-191 Bipolar Chopper Stepper Motor Driver Kit
Our new bipolar chopper drive allows you to get better performance from your stepper motor.
It uses a dual full bridge motor driver based on SGS Thompson chips L297 & L298. Motor current for each phase is set using an on-board potentiometer and the controller is capable of
handling motor winding currents of up to 2 Amps per phase.
It operates from a DC supply voltage of 9-36V. The drive provides all basic motor controls, including full or half stepping of bipolar steppers and direction control. Works with our range of large bipolar stepper motors MO-101, MO-102 and MO-103
All signals (Step, Direction, Enable) can be interfaced to external logic or a microcontroller. You can easily control the motor from your computer's parallel port or our serial stepper controller card!
This controller is perfect for desktop CNC applications.

KTA-196 Bipolar Stepper Motor Driver
Is a new replacement card for the old KT5158 or K158 card. The new card features
 - a double sided PCB (more reliable and no links to solder).
 - screw Terminals for all inputs, power connections and motor connections.
 - Full and Half Step (less resonance problems) operation and microstepping of 4,8,16,32,64 and 128 operation

- Step and Direction Inputs.
 - an enable input which will remove all power to the motor

We tested the KT5196 against a K158 and found an increase of 33% in stepping rate performance. The KT5196 is able to drive 4 wire (and 6 or 8 wire) bipolar stepper motors at up to 8 amps
Please note there is not inbuilt current limiting for the coil currents

Dimensions 75x105x20mm

A CD containing a visual basic program and source code which controls up to 4 motors from a parallel port is included. Can be used with or without our parallel interface card KT-5192. For those using the source code a copy of the activeX component RS Timer (from  http://www.elprogramari.com
) is included if fast speeds of the stepper motors are required.

KTA-197 Serial Bipolar Stepper Motor Driver
Is a combination of our popular KT5190 Serial Stepper Controller and the KT-5196 Bipolar Stepper Motor Driver.
You simply write ascii commands through the PC's serial port to the card to control each of the stepper motors

Examples of the commands are
@01 AMOV 2000  do an absolute move of stepper 1 to position 2000
@02 RMOV -400  do a relative move of stepper 2 400 steps backwards
@03 POSN 10000   indicate stepper 3 is at position 1000
    @04 STOP  stop stepper 4
@01 STAT   card sends the status of motors 1 to 4 whether they are moving or not and status of limit switches.

Positions can be between -99999999 and 99999999 steps.

The new card features
 - accepts the same serial ASCII commands as the KT-5190 to drive the motor eg @01 RMOV 10000
 - accelerate and decelerate motors
 - control up to 4 KT-5197's from the one RS232 serial port
 - accepts a 0-5V signal to control the speed of the stepper motor.
 - a double sided PCB (more reliable and no links to solder).
 - screw Terminals for all inputs, power connections and motor connections.
 - Full and Half Step (less resonance problems) operation
 - Step and Direction Input.
 - an enable input which will remove all power to the motor

The KT5197 is able to drive 4 wire (and 6 or 8 wire) bipolar stepper motors at up to 8 amps
Please note there is not inbuilt current limiting for the coil currents

KTA-206 Serial Unipolar Stepper Motor Driver
You simply write ascii commands through the PC's serial port to the card to control the operation of a unipolar stepper motor

Examples of the commands are
@01 AMOV 2000  do an absolute move of stepper 1 to position 2000
@02 RMOV -400  do a relative move of stepper 2 400 steps backwards
@03 POSN 10000   indicate stepper 3 is at position 1000
    @04 STOP  stop stepper 4

 - control up to 4 KT-5206's from the one RS232 serial port
 - accepts a 0-5V signal to control the speed of the stepper motor.
 - a double sided PCB (more reliable and no links to solder).
 - screw Terminals for all inputs, power connections and motor connections.
 - Full and Half Step (less resonance problems) operation
 - Step and Direction Input.
 - an enable input which will remove all power to the motor

The KT5206 is able to drive 5,6 and 8 wire unipolar stepper motors at up to 8 amps
Please note there is not inbuilt current limiting for the coil currents

SMC-020 Easy Driver Stepper Motor Driver
EasyDriver v3 is a simple to use bipolar stepper motor driver, compatible with anything that can output a digital 0 to 5V pulse. The EasyDriver requires a 7V to 30V supply to power the motor, and has an on board voltage regulator for the digital interface. Connect a 4-wire stepper motor and a microcontroller and you've got precision motor control!

Caution: Do not connect or disconnect a motor while the driver is energized. This will cause permanent damage to the A3967 IC.

Features:

* A3967 driver configured for 8-microstep mode
* Compatible with 4, 6, and 8 wire stepper motors
* Adjustable current control from 150mA/phase to 750mA/phase
* Power supply range from 7V to 30V. The higher the voltage, the higher the torque
Dimensions 43 x 21 x 8mm

Note at higher currents the A3967 gets hot and may need cooling

KIT-179 and KTA179 Unipolar Stepper Motor Driver
Standard circuit to drive 5, 6 or 8 wire unipolar stepper motors. Can be operated in free-standing (internal oscillator) or PC-controlled (direction, step) mode. Uses IRFZ44 power MOSFETs to drive the motors. These MOSFETs have a low on resistance and can carry 6A each without needing a heatsink. Uses discreete logic ICs: 4013, 4030, 4093. Separate supply voltage for kit and motors if required.

Up to six driver boards (for controlling 6 motors) can be connected to a single PC parallel port. Full operational details provided (see documentation link below). Screw terminal blocks and solder pins for connections.

A CD containing a visual basic program and source code which controls up to 4 motors from a parallel port is included. Can be used with or without our parallel interface card KT-5192. For those using the source code a copy of the activeX component RS Timer (from  http://www.elprogramari.com
